Digha is 183.8 kilometers from Kolkata, in the Purba Medinipur district at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal.

BY CAR

Digha is approximately a 4 hour drive from Kolkata, depending on traffic. Take VidyasagarSetu and drive down NH16, NH116 and NH116B.

BY TRAIN

Digha (Station Code:DGHA) is well connected with Kolkata. Trains can be accessed from Howrah Station. Tamralipta Express departs from Howrah at 6.40hrs and reaches Digha at 10.00hrs. Kandari Express departs from Howrah at 14.15hrs and reaches Digha at 17.50hrs. The Howrah Digha Duronta Exp departs at 11.15hrs and reaches at 14.15hrs.

BY BUS

Chartered buses (air-conditioned and with luggage space) take about 4 and a half hours to reach Digha. Regularly departing buses are available from Shahid Minar at Dharmatala, Kolkata and Howrah Bus Terminus, Kolkata. There are also state buses (non air-conditioned, not much luggage space) which depart from the same termini.

With pretty, paved walkways by the sea lashed by waves, Digha is a cherished destination for a reason. The beach front transforms into a kaleidoscope of colours every evening, your very own carnival on the beach! There are vendors offering fresh seafood, intricate handicrafts made with shells, jute and straw. Digha is also famous for cashew nuts which are available in a wide variety. While the town is easy to cover on foot, slightly longer sight-seeing requires local transport. Use electric rickshaws and cycle rickshaws to whiz around Digha, these will ferry you from and to the railway station as well.

The Marine Aquarium and Research Center

Educational for all ages, this aquarium accommodates 24 large marine tanks and 8 small fresh water tanks which harbour including local, curious and freshwater species. The aquarium remains open to visitors on all working days from 9.30 am to 6 pm.


Science Center

Established by the National Council of Science Museum, the Science Centre is where science meets fun with interactive exhibits engaging for children and adults alike.


Amarabati Park

There are some stunning beaches around Digha,starting from the New Digha beach to virgin beaches all along the Bay of Bengal Coast.


Udaipur (2 kms away)
